A brief update on the club as we head into the new season from our Chair, Dave Perry
I just wanted to provide a brief update on the club as we head into the new season.
At the end of 2025 we held the AGM and many thanks to everyone that attended. As normal we confirmed the committee roles for 2026 and along with the existing members continuing I’m very pleased that Rakesh Theyiri has agreed to join us and we look forward to his input and contribution.
STAYING STABLE
The accounts presented at the AGM confirmed we are in a stable position financially but we are also experiencing significant increases in the costs of keeping the club running, particularly in the materials and services associated with preparing and maintaining the grounds and square. The annual membership subscriptions form a vital part of the revenue we rely upon to pay these expenses and the committee therefore agreed to increase core membership fees to £90 per annum for adults and £70 per annum for colts. I’m sure you will agree that this still represents excellent value to be a part of all the matches, training and social events provided by our club.
ONLINE MEMBERSHIP FORMS
Last year we introduced the online ability to complete club registration and pay membership fees. This year we are mandating that all registrations and membership payments are completed online via the website, to make the process easier and more consistent. Please don’t transfer monies directly to the club account or provide cash payments. The pages are available here and we would encourage all members to complete them at the earliest opportunity to help the club move forward and meet the demands of being ready for the season start.
SPONSORS
We have excellent club sponsors in Kingfisher and Tom Dix Estate Agency advertising board. However, we are actively looking for additional sponsors to accelerate the club’s development. If anyone is interested directly or if you know of friends, family or employers that could potentially be involved please let us know asap – the assistance of the membership and your ‘network’ of contacts is vital in finding new opportunities so please try. See the latest Sponsorship Brochure here.
FURRY FUNDRASING
One member who is already fund raising for the club through a sponsored hair growing is Brian Lawes, the normally shaven parent and committee member. If you would like to contribute to this worthy effort his ‘Wookie-thon’ page is here
NETTING
Our adult and junior net sessions are in progress and both adult and junior league fixture details are available on the website. Keep following on our social channels to stay up to date with the latest club announcements.
GET SET WEEKEND
One date for your diary is the ‘Get Set’ weekend happening on the 28th and 29th March where any support or time you can offer to help get the grounds and facilities ready would be hugely appreciated.
Not long now until cricket returns to HBBHCC!
Dave Perry, Chairman
